Millward Leslie David Carlisle

Leslie Millward passed away in 1945.  Leslie was just 19 yrs old, he was suffering from Brights disease. Leslie passed away while still at the Farm School.

He is buried in the Fairbridge section of the Molong Cemetery.

He came to Molong in February 1938,with his 2 brothers, Arthur and John. This was the 1st party to arrive at the Farm School. The party had 28 boys. The ship was the SS Orama.

John Millward died in 1943, he too was only 19 yrs old.  The two deaths of boys so young, and so close together in time, was indeed very  tragic.  John is also buried in the Molong Cemetery.

Arthur Millward the remaining brother returned to the UK, to help soften  his grief.

Thanks to Peter Bennett for this information.

About The Phantom

Came to Fairbridge Molong in 1957 and began immediately as a farm trainee. I was 15 yrs old. I loved the work, but found it very lonely and the bullying was awful. Billy Gelson saved me many times in Orange cottage from beatings. I loved this man. I have had a successful life with a wife who died in 2003. I have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Life has been a challenge since Maureen died.. Brian K OF
