Malcolm Field passed away after a long illness on the 30th September 2012 in Thirroul NSW.
Malcolm came to Fairbridge Molong in 1953 together with his brother Lawrence.(Laurie). There 24 other children in party. The ship was the Mooltan.
Two other siblings namely Jane and Keith had already arrived at the Farm School in 1951.
Malcolm, was the much loved brother of the OFA”s Hon Secretary and Treasurer Laurie Field.
Together with other loving family members Keith and Jane, he will be sorely missed. Several OF”s attended his funeral in the Illawarra.
Additionally at the Executive meeting of the Association on the 21st October 2012 a minutes silence was observed for him.
Malcolm retired from teaching in the Lemington Spa district of the UK and returned to live in Australia, he readily accepted the position of Secretary of the Assoc. He gained great pleasure from that role. He will be sadly missed by his Fairbridge Family also.
Laurie visited Malcolm the day before he died, and he would like to say thank you to our President Derek and his wife Sandra for staying with him during the last night of his life.
I knew Malcolm in Orange Cottage when I arrived in 1957, I liked the guy and admired his courage and tenacity in doing his high school homework from Orange High in the kitchen ,despite many interruptions from the other kids. Malcolm also made friends with a local grazier at Gamboola who virtually adopted him, he had many happy times there.
Rest in Peace Malcolm.
