Mitchell Leonard Thomas ( Mickey )

Leonard Mitchell passed away, due to war wounds,  on the 23rd April 1951.      Leonard was born on the 25th June 1925.

Mickey came to  Fairbridge Molong with the 1st party in February 1938.  This party had 28 boys.

The ship was the SS Orama.

Mickey served with distinction in World War 2 and Korea.

Mickey was subsequently  badly wounded in Korea, and died in a Sydney hospital. Ruth Woods visited Mickey several times during his time in hospital. A notable deed, from a lady dearly loved by many Old Fairbridgians.

About The Phantom

Came to Fairbridge Molong in 1957 and began immediately as a farm trainee. I was 15 yrs old. I loved the work, but found it very lonely and the bullying was awful. Billy Gelson saved me many times in Orange cottage from beatings. I loved this man. I have had a successful life with a wife who died in 2003. I have 3 children and 2 grandchildren. Life has been a challenge since Maureen died.. Brian K OF
